8 Best Rank Tracking APIs in 2026: Rank Tracker API Prices Compared

The short answer: If you are building your own rank tracker, SEO dashboard, or client reports, PrismCrawl is our pick for the best rank tracking API in 2026. It returns live Google and Bing results with each result's rank and URL, targeted by country, city, language, and device, for $0.30 to $0.15 per 1,000 successful checks with no subscription. Tracking 1,000 keywords daily costs about $10 a month. The best alternative depends on how you work:

  • Best overall value for custom rank trackers: PrismCrawl, live checks from $0.15 per 1,000.
  • Cheapest for overnight batch checks: DataForSEO, $0.60 per 1,000 in its standard queue.
  • Simple prepaid Google checks with high throughput: Serper.
  • Unlimited concurrency: Bright Data.
  • Hosted rank tracker with a full API: SE Ranking, from $129 a month.
  • Hosted daily tracking at agency scale: AccuRanker, with API access on its Expert plan.
  • Agency dashboards and white-label reports: Keyword.com, with API access on every plan.

This comparison is published by PrismCrawl, which is ranked first. Prices come from each provider's public pricing page, checked October 4 to 13, 2026. They are list prices, not quotes, and we have not benchmarked accuracy, latency, or success rate across providers.

Rank tracker API or SERP API?

There are two kinds of rank tracking API, and they suit different teams:

  • SERP APIs return the live search results page for one keyword in one search context. Your code finds your domain in the results, records the position, and stores the history. You control the schedule, keywords, locations, and storage, and you pay per check. PrismCrawl, DataForSEO, Serper, Bright Data, and SerpApi work this way.
  • Managed rank tracker APIs sit on top of a hosted rank tracking tool. You add keywords to a project, the tool checks them daily or weekly, and the API reads positions and history from the tool. You pay per tracked keyword and get dashboards and reports included. SE Ranking, AccuRanker, and Keyword.com work this way.

If you are building a product, an internal dashboard, or reports for many clients, a SERP API usually costs far less per keyword. If you want a ready-made tool and only need to export data, a managed tracker saves engineering time.

Top 10 or top 100?

In September 2025 Google stopped honoring the num=100 parameter, which rank trackers used to fetch 100 results in one request. A results page now returns about 10 organic results, so checking the top 100 positions takes up to ten requests per keyword. Many teams now track the top 20 or 30 positions, and page deeper only for keywords that rank there. Decide your depth before you compare prices, because it multiplies every number below.

What 1,000 and 10,000 keywords cost

The table prices daily checks of the top 10 Google results on desktop, which is about 30,000 checks a month for 1,000 keywords and 300,000 for 10,000 keywords. For each SERP API we use the smallest published purchase or plan that covers one month. Add devices, locations, or deeper pages by multiplying the volume.

Provider1,000 keywords daily (30,000 checks)10,000 keywords daily (300,000 checks)
PrismCrawl$10 (37,038 credits)$100 (476,191 credits)
DataForSEO, standard queue$18 ($50 minimum payment)$180
Bright Data, pay as you go$45$450
Serper$50 (50,000 credits)$375 (500,000 credits)
Scrapingdog, Light API$40/month (40,000 checks)$200/month (600,000 checks)
DataForSEO, live$60$600
SearchApi$100/month (35,000 searches)$900/month (500,000 searches)
SerpApi$275/month (30,000 searches)$2,750/month (500,000 searches)

PrismCrawl's credits are valid for 90 days, so the $100 package covers about a month and a half at 10,000 keywords. Monthly plans reset each month. Managed rank trackers price by tracked keyword and plan rather than by request, so they are not in this table; their prices are listed in each review below.

The 8 best rank tracking APIs, reviewed

1. PrismCrawl

Best for: teams building their own rank tracker, SEO dashboard, or client reports.

PrismCrawl's rank tracker API returns live Google and Bing results pages as JSON, with each result's rank, URL, and domain, plus SERP features such as AI Overviews, local results, and People Also Ask. Google requests target a country, language, city-level location, coordinates, and device, so you can track local rankings as well as national ones. One successful check uses one credit and failed requests are free, so an error never costs you a check.

  • Pricing: one-time packages from $5 ($0.30 per 1,000) to $1,000 ($0.15 per 1,000). New accounts get 100 free credits with no card.
  • Engines: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Baidu, Yandex, and Naver on the same balance, plus AI Overview and AI Mode endpoints for tracking AI search visibility.
  • Throughput: 5 requests per second on the $5 package, rising to 100 on the $1,000 package. Custom plans run at 1,000 or more.
  • Tradeoffs: there is no hosted dashboard. Your application stores keyword lists, history, and reports. Credits expire after 90 days.

The rank tracker tutorial builds a working tracker in Python, and the AI Overview citation tracker adds AI search visibility in TypeScript.

2. DataForSEO

Best for: large overnight batch jobs where results can arrive later.

DataForSEO is the cheapest per check when you can wait. Its standard queue costs $0.60 per 1,000 results pages and averages about five minutes; live results cost $2.00 per 1,000. The same account sells keyword, backlink, and on-page data, which suits SEO platforms that need more than positions.

  • Pricing: prepaid balance with a $50 minimum payment. Some parameters multiply the price.
  • Tradeoffs: the task-based API (post a task, then fetch the result) takes more integration work than a single request, and the live price is more than ten times PrismCrawl's top rate.

3. Serper

Best for: simple Google-only rank checks on prepaid credits.

Serper is a fast, lightweight Google Search API. Credits are prepaid, and the rate limit rises with package size, up to 300 queries per second on the largest package.

  • Pricing: $1.00 per 1,000 on the $50 package, falling to $0.30 per 1,000 on a $3,750 package. 2,500 free queries with no card.
  • Tradeoffs: Google only, so Bing rank tracking needs a second provider. Its lowest rate is twice PrismCrawl's and requires a much larger purchase.

4. Bright Data

Best for: very high concurrency.

Bright Data's SERP API publishes no concurrency limit and bills only successful requests. It covers Google, Bing, and other engines, and returns JSON or HTML.

  • Pricing: $1.50 per 1,000 pay as you go, or a $499 monthly plan that includes 380,000 requests. 5,000 free requests a month.
  • Tradeoffs: several times the per-check price of prepaid SERP APIs, and setup uses zones and constructed search URLs.

5. SerpApi

Best for: teams already integrated with SerpApi.

SerpApi is a mature multi-engine SERP API with official client libraries. It bills only successful searches.

  • Pricing: $25 a month for 1,000 searches to $3,750 a month for 1 million. Tracking 1,000 keywords daily needs the $275 Big Data plan. See the full SerpApi pricing breakdown.
  • Throughput: hourly limits rise with the plan, from 200 searches an hour on Starter to 20,000 on Searcher, so a daily batch must fit inside the hourly cap.
  • Tradeoffs: the most expensive SERP API per check here. See SerpApi alternatives.

6. SE Ranking

Best for: teams that want a hosted rank tracker and a broad SEO data API.

SE Ranking offers a Project API that manages rank tracking projects, adds keywords, runs position checks, and reads keyword statistics, plus a Data API with keyword, backlink, and domain data. It also tracks AI search results.

  • Pricing: API access is included with the Core plan at $129 a month and the Growth plan at $279 a month. An API add-on starts at $149 a month, and pay-as-you-go Data API credits start at $50.
  • Tradeoffs: you pay per tracked keyword through plan limits, and checks follow the tool's schedule rather than your own.

7. AccuRanker

Best for: agencies that need daily updates on large keyword sets.

AccuRanker is a dedicated hosted rank tracker with daily updates.

  • Pricing: the Professional plan starts at $224 a month but does not include an API. The Expert plan, at $764 a month, includes an unlimited read API; Enterprise adds a write API and raw SERP HTML.
  • Tradeoffs: the API is only available on the higher plans, which makes it one of the more expensive ways to get rank data programmatically.

8. Keyword.com

Best for: agencies that want dashboards and white-label reports with an API on top.

Keyword.com's rank tracker API returns Google positions, best position, search volume, and CPC from projects tracked in its hosted tool, with SERP history storage. API access is included in every plan with no separate per-call charges.

  • Pricing: plan-based; check its pricing page for keyword limits. A 14-day trial includes 100 keywords.
  • Tradeoffs: Google rankings only through the API, and checks run daily or weekly on the tool's schedule.

How to track rankings with a SERP API

A rank check is one search request plus a lookup:

  1. Fix the search context. Store the engine, keyword, country, language, location, and device with every check. Positions are only comparable within the same context.
  2. Request the results page. For example, a Google search with gl, hl, location, and device set.
  3. Find your domain. Match the target domain against each result's URL and record the first matching rank. If it is not found in the pages you checked, record "not in top N", which is different from a failed request.
  4. Store the observation in your own database with the collection time. Request history is not a long-term ranking store.
  5. Schedule and alert. Run checks daily or weekly, and alert on movements larger than normal day-to-day noise.
curl "https://api.prismcrawl.com/v1/google/search" \
  -X POST -H "x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY" -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -d '{"query":"rank tracker api","gl":"us","hl":"en","device":"desktop"}'

The rank tracker tutorial turns this into a scheduled Python job with storage and reports, and the Google search localization guide explains how gl, hl, and location targeting change results.

How to choose a rank tracking API

  1. Decide whether you are building or buying. If rankings feed your own product or reports, use a SERP API. If you only need dashboards and exports, a managed tracker may be cheaper in engineering time.
  2. Count every check. Multiply keywords × engines × locations × devices × checks per month × pages per check. The SERP API cost calculator does this for PrismCrawl's packages.
  3. Decide whether results can wait. Overnight jobs can use DataForSEO's standard queue. Dashboards that check on demand need live results.
  4. Check the engines you need. Serper and Keyword.com's API are Google only. Bing tracking needs PrismCrawl, DataForSEO, Bright Data, SerpApi, or SE Ranking.
  5. Run 50 to 100 of your real keywords through two or three providers' free allowances and compare the positions you get with what you see in the same location and device.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best rank tracking API in 2026?

For teams building their own rank tracker, PrismCrawl is our pick: live Google and Bing results with rank and URL for each result, from $0.30 to $0.15 per 1,000 successful checks with no subscription. DataForSEO's standard queue is the cheapest option for overnight batch checks that can wait, and SE Ranking, AccuRanker, and Keyword.com fit teams that want a hosted rank tracker with an API on top.

What is the difference between a rank tracker API and a SERP API?

A SERP API returns the live results page for a keyword, location, and device; your application finds your domain in the results and stores the position. A managed rank tracker API reads positions from a hosted tool that schedules the checks and stores history for you. SERP APIs cost less per check and give you full control; managed trackers include dashboards and history but charge per tracked keyword.

How much does a rank tracking API cost?

Tracking 1,000 keywords daily on Google desktop is about 30,000 first-page checks a month. That costs $10 with PrismCrawl, about $18 in DataForSEO's standard queue, $50 with Serper, and $275 a month with SerpApi. Tracking the top 100 positions instead of the top 10 multiplies the number of requests by up to ten, because Google returns about 10 results per page.

Is there a free rank tracker API?

Most rank tracking APIs have a free allowance rather than a free plan. PrismCrawl gives new accounts 100 free credits, Serper 2,500 free queries, SerpApi 250 searches a month, and Bright Data 5,000 requests a month. Keyword.com and SE Ranking offer free trials of their hosted rank trackers. See free SERP APIs for the full list.

Can I track Bing rankings with an API?

Yes. PrismCrawl, SerpApi, Bright Data, and DataForSEO return Bing results as well as Google. Microsoft retired its own Bing Search APIs in 2025, so a third-party SERP API is now the usual way to check Bing positions programmatically. See PrismCrawl's Bing Search API, or follow the Bing SERP checker guide to check one keyword.
